Flights Many prospective customers ask us about flights. We thought it would be a good idea to pull together the various pieces of information about flight options. For your reference, the destination airport is Dalaman. And do not forget we pick you up from the airport and take you to the villa! There are two prime types of flights: Chartered or Scheduled. Chartered means that you jump on a plane with lots of holiday makers, often who are going on package tours. They tend to go from all part of the UK, such as Newcastle, Bristol, etc. They flight would normally be direct to Dalaman Airport. There are advantages in that the flight is direct with no stop overs, and often much cheaper. The seats may be a little closer than normal, and not all charters have in flight TV, but of you are saving £100 per person, you can certainly put up with it for 3 hours. You would normally stay at a destination for 7, 14 or 21 days. This is one of the reasons that the flights are a little cheaper, as the airline knows exactly who is booked on what. Scheduled means that there are regular flights to a destination, often several flights day. Most scheduled flights do not go to Dalaman direct, but would stop over in Istanbul first. These are often a little more expensive than chartered, but you get more legroom and the flight will often have in-flight TV, drinks etc. There is also the advantage of being able to use any of the timetabled flights, which means you are less restrictive on times and length of stay. Scheduled is probably the best option if you are interested in a two stop holiday, allowing you to stay over in Istanbul for a night or two. Check our links page for a good hotel in Istanbul. However, another option, if your organised, is that some flights offer a delay of several hours between landing in Istanbul and leaving for Dalyan. We have got off the plane, jumped in a taxi, sped of to Istanbul, enjoyed a light meal and drink, and got back to the airport in time for the Dalaman leg of the journey. Although maybe this is not such as good idea if you have kids in tow! |
